First Chairman

Silas Schwabe

Hey! I'm 23 years old and I'm studying to become an English and PE teacher. In 2022, I was in Zanzibar during the semester break and was able to work with Gasica. Since then, a close friendship has developed between us and together we have been successfully developing ZL4L over the last few years. Through various fundraising activities, we have been able to expand the school building, buy new land for further projects and expand our social network in Germany and the Netherlands. Gasica's life story is incredibly touching and the way he dedicates his life to helping others is unique. He has become one of my greatest role models and I am very grateful that our teamwork has been further developed and professionalized through the founding of our association Dreams for Kids. I really enjoy working with children and young people and consider the cross-cultural exchange very enriching. I am therefore delighted to be able to help shape the future of educational projects like ZL4L which make Dreams for Kids come true.

Accountant

Lea Borgs

Hello there! I am Lea, co-founder of the organization and responsible for accounting. I was lucky enough to meet Gasica when he visited us in the summer of 2023. I was immediately blown away by his kind, open and cheerful nature. Through his willpower and the tireless cohesion of the community, he has managed to create something unique that benefits many people every day. The association gives us the opportunity to act and enrich the lives of children, which is incredibly important because they are our future. When I was a child, I was able to grow up in a comparatively privileged family, which meant that many doors were always open to me. In today's society, it's easy to lose sight of your privileges. Working on projects like this can open your eyes. You learn what really is important. I am very grateful to be able to be part of Dreams for Kids and look forward to all that is yet to come!

Vice Chairwomen

Susanne Schwabe

Hello everyone! As Silas mum, I was fascinated to listen to the reports about his experiences alongside Gasica during his time in Zanzibar. I remember a story that Silas once told me about children that came to school to ask for education. Even though they hadn’t eaten for two days, they weren’t asking about food. They asked for education. Of course, Gasica was there for them and warmly welcomed them into the project family. Also, their family was provided with financial means to build a chicken farm so that they could have an independent income. Dreams came true and instead of hunger, the children experienced that dreams can come true in the form of education. In my work as a teacher for vocational schools, specialized in health sciences and religion, as well as in my role as head of the health department at ‘Studienseminar Osnabrück’, I am wholeheartedly part of our progressive German education system, which we all take for granted. For me, it’s amazing to be part of ‘Dreams for Kids e.V.’ and to be able to fulfil the educational mission beyond the borders of our country. I was deeply moved by Gasica’s visit in summer 2023. In him, we have become a new family member who has opened up new perspectives for my own life.
