Who are we?
Dreams for Kids e. V. is an NGO that supports integrative educational projects. It all began in 2022 when Silas, founder of our association, flew to Zanzibar and started working with Gasica, the project manager of Zanzibar Learning 4 life. This was the beginning of a very special friendship. Gasica has had many up’s and down’s in life and since 2022 Silas and Gasica have been able to build an ever-growing circle of international supporters for the Zanzibar Learning 4 Life project. We founded Dreams 4 Kids to support this network of supporters and to professionalize the organizational and financial matters. Zanzibar Learning 4 life has become the first major project that Dreams for Kids e. V. supports.
OUR VISION
Every child
has dreams.
One thing is certain: every child in this world has dreams or should be allowed to dream - the desire to own a fancy car, become a professional footballer, a taxi driver or a doctor one day. Children need dreams that make their eyes light up. Dreams encourage, dreams motivate, dreams create incentives for further development. But what do children dream about when the reality of their lives is so far from fancy cars or great careers, when it's just a matter of surviving day by day? Far too many children in this world grow up in great poverty and are trapped in this vicious circle. They have no choice but to focus on that one meal a day, While a place for dreams and their fulfillment remains utopian. We want to change that! We want to enable more children to dream again and help them to realize their dreams. Our key to success is education. Education is a human right. Education offers a way out of poverty and enables people to have realistic dreams and pursue them with determination. Education is therefore our "dream recipe". It actually sounds quite simple: realizing children’s dreams through education. Dreams for Kids e. V. would like to help expand and develop integrative education projects for children and young people, such as ‘Zanzibar Learning 4 Life’. This requires certain structures, such as premises, materials, skilled staff and basic guidelines according to which the project work is carried out. We therefore want to support our projects not only with donations, but also with our expertise to help build these necessary structures. We want to provide children with education, accompany them on their educational path and finally help them to get jobs or continue with secondary education. In this way, the vicious circle of poverty can be broken, and the children can build an independent life for themselves. In doing so, we rely on the work of the local communities. Although we work with volunteers from all over the world, we are convinced that the educational facilities must first and foremost be managed and organized by the local people themselves. Thus, we see ourselves as external supporters who create the framework for the projects through managing donations and organizing cooperations with volunteers.
